I - Introduction and Year

Hello, and welcome to the Potions classroom, first years! I know you are excited to learn Potions, but let's kick off My name is Professor Cairstine Caballero. I will introduce myself as well as the rules and syllabus for this course.

My name is Professor Caballero. Please do not call me “Miss ”. It’s Professor, Professor Caballero.

I'd now like to leave my backstory on the Meet the Staff page.

As all of you are aware, Potions is an exciting class if you study it with proper passion. First, we will go through the important class formalities and rules, before we kick off to the lesson. You are supposed to get your quills, sufficient supply of parchments, and your textbook, known as Magical Drafts and Potions, which will be published in the library soon too.

Then, if you'd need ingredients to brew a potion, they are in the store cupboard behind all of you. There are three seats per table, for you to comfortably sit and brew the potions. In your free time, you may gather materials before you brew the potion and you could draw pictures, read books and do etc things while your potion is brewing too. I want all of you to follow the class rules and safety instructions, as they are made for your welfare.

  1. Do not cheat/plagiarize in assignments. If you do, then you will receive a 0% on the assignment, and you will get a visit with me.

2. Show respect to everyone in the classroom. May it be the person who cleans the laboratory after your work, me, my prefects and your fellow students.

3. Girls, please remember to tie your hairs before you start brewing your potion, as your hairs could ignite in the fire, and they could cause a bug accident.

4. You must not bring jewelry, bracelets, clothes or items which might easily fall in the potion, as it could lead to a serious potion backfire!

5. Follow the instructions carefully, and do not hesitate to ask any doubts.

If we talk about assignments, then there will be one mandatory quiz and/or one extra credit/mandatory essay mostly after each lesson. In lessons five and nine respectively, you will have two examinations conducted, in which you will have an essay too. You could describe your brewing experiences in essays, if you want. Taking notes in this class, and all your HIM classes will help you develop, innovate and think, so it is recommended but optional.
