Welcome back to the flying pitch! Of course, we shall not be playing Quidditch, but I'll be quickly explaining to you what the term Quidditch exactly means.

Quidditch is a popular wizarding sport, being invented in Britain, and is believed to be the first ever Quidditch game, as brooms were firstly invented in Britain. It is played on brooms, with certain positions and balls, with certain rules. There are two teams, and seven players in each team.

The game ended when the snitch, formerly snidgets, was caught by the seeker, therefore scoring 150 points for the player, but now, the Minister of Magical Games and Sports decided that other players like the chasers were getting neglected too much, and changed the snitch's value to 30, but still, when the snitch is caught, the game ends.

The Beater is too important a role. They beat the opposite team players, as an attempt of distracting their attention, and making their team players go ahead of them and succeed. There are two beaters per team.

The chasers are two in each team, and they are the people who score the goal by putting the quaffle over in the hoops.

The keeper of the opposite house team stands in other's goal to prevent them from scoring a goal, thus attempting to block the chaser each time.

Quaffle is a big fat red ball, and a quaffle scores twenty points to the team. The Image A ball picture, a red ball is the quaffle.

Bludger are big fat balls hit by the beater to the opposite team to distract them made out of iron. The Image B fat blue ball is the bludger.

Snitch is the golden ball which contains thirty points altogether and ends the game. It is caught by the seeker. The last Image C picture in the image collection is of the snitch.

Now, Quidditch too has its own exciting history. It was first played in the town of Queerditch Marsh. A witch, namely Gertie Keddle lived in the year 1050. There were some incidents, then the game was invented.

In those times, Quidditch was spelled as Kwidditch, and Chasers and Bludgers were respectively called Catchers and Blooders.

The Golden Snitch was suggested and invented by Kent in the year 1269.

Before that time, it was played using a golden bird called Snidget. People used to catch the same snidget, till the bird became extinct, and the ministry brought strict guidelines about being punished if someone killed it.

Quidditch is very similar to Muggle football. There were even substitutes, to substitute players if one is injured heavily to play.

For today, I'm dismissing the second flying class, with the word that we shall meet very soon. Class dismissed!
