Defense Against the Dark Arts Lesson 3 Year 1 : The Knockback Jinx/Smokescreen Spell
Welcome
Professor Harper Hendrope is just grading some assignments from his previous class, when he sees his students enter. He welcomes them in.
So, I have planned an exciting lesson for you today, which will consist of the Knockback Jinx and Smokescreen Spell, the two spells which are used in combination, will prove to have approved to have a great effect in fighting a magical creature. All you need to do is first cast the Knockback Jinx to knock it down, and cast the Smokescreen Spell and escape, instead of trying to hurt the creature any more.
Enough chatter, let us start learning the spells. If we do not, then we would be left without learning anything.
The Knockback Jinx
The Knockback Jinx is a spell which is used to repel opponents physically, or knock away a creature or any object. It has the power to make magical stars active too. It produces blue light from it, when cast with the correct spell casting components.
The incantation for this charm is "Flipendo". With the use of the Disarming or Shield Charm, you can rebound to its caster. This spell may be used to repel creatures such as the bowtruckle.
This is usually an offensive spell, but you may use it in certain defense techniques as well. Now, if we come to the casting part, you will find this spell very easy to cast, but it requires a bit more concentration on the effect. If the blue light does not come from the spell, it means the spell is not working as a successful spell should work.
If the correct amount of concentration or willpower is not put, then the spell may be unsuccessful, or the spell might hit the wrong target, the same thing happens if the wand movement done is wrong.
If beyond all obstacles, the spell is successful, then it means a blue light will come out, and hit the target. At start, the target will feel a bit pricky, and within a second, they will be knocked off, no matter a person or a creature. The opponent is bound to feel a blow on the chest. If cast strongly, it can break objects too.
- Name : Knockback Jinx

The Smokescreen Spell
Yes, now we come to our second spell. The Knockback Jinx has been a wonderful aggressive spell, yes, but this Smokescreen Spell is an awesome defensive technique, and when used in combination with an aggressive one, it gets a great effect.
This blurs your opponent's vision, which gives you an opportunity to attack or end the fight and flee off.
The concentration required is moderate, as you need to produce a full dust of smoke.
Willpower for this spell depends on how long you need to keep the smoke, and the quantity of the smoke.
The wand movement for this spell is a simple one, a spiral towards the out, an outward spiral.
The willpower depends on the amount of smoke which must be out, which is the main purpose of willpower, if you do remember.
