Charms Lesson 5 Y1 : Locomotor Charm/Ice Break Jinx and Midterms

Welcome back to Charms! I believe you studied the Severing and Fire Making charms well last class. This lesson, you will be studying the Locomotor Charm and the Ice Breaking jinx!

Before that, as usual, we will be going through the spell Invention theory. Don't worry, we won't be starting invention spells so soon, but the theory is just for your knowledge.

Spell Invention Theory

As defined earlier, a spell is something which triggers something, and which helps the wizarding world in multiple tasks. What is the main source of a spell?

Wand is the main source of the spell. Creating a spell isn't as easy as you think. The first step is to jot down what the spell should do and list its goals on a piece of paper. Keep looking at it till you are sure it will work.

List the spell casting components, and mix it with the spell goals, and determine how much of it will it require. Then, create the effects by charming using thelis current charms. Your Charm will have to be registered by an official, and then it's created!

The Locomotor Charm

The Locomotor Charm is a charm used to move objects from one place to another, and switch their locations too! Saying the name of the object in front of Locomotor, such as 'Locomotor Box' will make it easier to move it from one place to another, though it is very optional to do that. It was invented by Zapier Goldensteir, when he could not lift a 150 pounds sack, with his maximum willpower, he used the charm.

  • Incantation: Locomotor

  • Pronunciation: loh-kuh-MOH-tor

  • Wand Movement: A point and flick of the wand towards the object, then the target place

  • Concentration: Moderate

  • Willpower: Moderate

The Ice Breaking Jinx

The Ice Breaking Jinx is a jinx which is used to break ice, or the chilly feeling on an object. This charm was invented by Professor Vansburge and me, for your studies of Potions! I'm sure your potions professor will show it to you while the molecular structures mix up and it is useful for waring off the effects of the Ice Jinx and the Chilling Charm.

  • Incantation: Felicio Momentum

  • Pronunciation: Feal-ee-cie-uo    moo-eme-nte-um

  • Wand Movement: Point at the object

  • Concentration: Low

  • Willpower: Low

Great Job on your spells! They worked, but practice more in the future!

Oh, you have to take your Midterms today! You will only be given a midterm test which is like a test, and a optional essay.
