Charms Lesson 3 : The Levitation Charms

Professor Martina Sterling is sitting at her desk, waiting. She stands up, and decorates the classroom a bit, with some lights, illustrated levitated objects, and objects, charmed, which were very appealing to the eye.

Introduction

Welcome to the Charms Classroom!  Today, we're gonna learn the Levitation Charms, which are VERY crucial, but before, we have something more to learn. Before we learn all of that, I want you to calm your mind completely, and let go of all emotions and thoughts. Sit straight, and keep both hands on your lap. Stretch your last three fingers towards North, excluding index, and face towards the fingers. Align your index finger towards your thumb. Meditate for five minutes. Now, the meditation is complete, and you will go through the Wand Components and what makes a wand.

Diagram - HERE

See the components listed in the diagram above? That's all's not folks, we have a bit of more addition to it.

End Cap protects the wand from any external damages on one side of the wand. For example. if the wand fell down from five inches, and all.

The Handle protects the Core inside it, from any permanent or everlasting damage, and overlaps the Core.

Core is one of the major parts of the wand, and mostly, in England, cores of wands are made out of body parts of animals. In South Asia, wand cores are mostly made up of different gemstones.

Shaft is the light outer covering of the wand wood, and the wand wood itself. Wand Wood are made of different types of woods, and like Cores, they are even selected depending upon the personality of the person.

Tip protects the wand from external damage, like end cap, on the other side.

Wand Length and Wand Quality are not parts, but they are simply components of a wand, which you would study in Wandlore. Wand Length is the length of the wand, and how long the wand is. Some say it depends upon the length of the person.

The average length is 10'0 to 15'0. Wand Quality, as the name says, is the quality of the wand, such as 'Nice and Supple'.

The Hover Charm

The Hover Charm was the charm which was first invented by a Dutch man. You had to touch the object to make it levitate, which was not a easy job at all! You could only move the objects up and down.

  • Incantation: Levioso

  • Pronunciation: leav-ee-O-so
Wand Movement: Inward spiral and a flick towards the upper right
Willpower: Moderate; depending upon the mass
    Concentration: None

The Levitation Charm

The basic levitation charm was proved to be most useful, and is the latest invention till now. It could move objects in the direction you wish, without touching the object! It could often be very dangerous. You should not even try to levitate someone, in the classroom!

  • Incantation: Wingardium Leviosa

  • Pronunciation: win-GAR-dee-um levi-O-sa
    Wand Movement: Swish and flick
    Willpower: Low
    Concentration: Moderate

Students cast the spell. 'Well, you did fairly. Try to practise the spell.'

Oh, it's time! This year, you'll only be learning two levitation charms. So, off you head with a quiz!
