Charms Lesson 2 Year 1 : Spell Casting Theory ; Wand Lightning and Extinguishing Charms

Professor Sterling is sitting at a desk waiting for her students to walk into the classroom. Soon they do and sit at their desks. The professor walks up to the chalkboard and writes “Charms Lesson 2 Year 1; Spell casting Theory, Wand Lighting, and Extinguishing Charms”

Introduction

Hello! I am Professor Sterling, once again!

Magical Spell Casting Theory is divided into two parts ;

Spell Casting Components

Part 1 contains the Spell Casting Components, which are, as mentioned earlier, vital indeed in casting a spell. Looking at some of yours' faces, I think you have forgotten the definition of Spell Casting Components. Spell Casting Components are special core molecules, which are a compound, and turn out to mix together, and become sub molecules, a visible mixture, which are visible as Incantation, Willpower, Wand Movement and Concentration, and all of them together make a spell. They are known as Spell Casting Components.

Incantation - Incantation(s) are the words which we speak in order to make the spell cast. Perhaps the most popular spell-casting component for children, each spell has a different Incantation, in order to differentiate between them and to make a spell's effect live. Consider it into real life. While speaking, or typing, if you misspell a word, such as, you say ''Elle, Waldon'' instead of ''Hello, “Welcome'' , people are most likely not to understand you! Surely, you see the importance! Mispronunciation of a word could lead to a big mishap, that is why I will always provide the Pronunciation, and I will pronounce it first.

Wand Movement - Wand Movements are the flickery shapes that are seen in the sky while casting a spell, and like all of them, they are vital too. They are too unique, but maybe, not as much as Incantations, as often, spells can have the same Wand Movements. They mostly are aimed towards the intended direction you want the spell to go and hit.

Concentration - Concentration is often even known as Focus. Concentration is like the brains of a spell, and each and every spell need not have a 'Focus', such as the Wand Extinguishing Charm. Concentration focuses on the main effects, such as to lit up your wand, you require warmth and brightness. The more the concentration is ; the more you move towards it, and the brightness and warmth increases.

Willpower - Willpower is the Brawns of the body, and is also known as Physical Strength, while Concentration is the Mental Strength. The effects are pushed through 'Willpower', such as the variation in the color, and the amount of time the effect is taking place.

Safety with Spell Casting and More

You have to be very safe with Spell Casting, or you might end up causing a big mishap!

Some Rules are:

You must read all spell casting components and procedures before you cast the spell.

You then must ensure you are using enough willpower and concentration, and using the Wand Movement and Incantation must be correct.

Take down notes or reread the lesson to revise concepts, and hope you get it right.

4. Keep your mind calm, give a rest to yourselves, avoid stress,  and rest for at least 10 Minutes if you have cast another spell just before. You never want to give yourselves magical exhaustion and lose your magical fuel, always try to preserve magical fuel, but in urgent situations, you might have to use more of it, like if your enemy is attacking you in a duel. At least keep 10% of the fuel in you, and give up the duel. It is often referred to as 'Magical Exhaustion', which makes you exhausted by casting  many spells.

Wand Lighting Charm

The Wand Lighting Charm is used to light wands, and use it when you are in a dark place. The light you are aiming for must be bright yellowish white light. This Charm was invented by Levina Monkstanley in the 18th century period, and was first used to find a quill. Many practitioners, such as Garvin Lügner have claimed that they invented the charm, but it turned out Garvin was lying, and he was just jealous that his Darkness Powder did not beat the charm. It is mainly used to scare away animals such as Gytrashes or to light a dark place. Remember again, you aim for Bright Yellowish White light and the light is similar to a muggle flashlight.

  • Incantation: Lumos

  • Pronunciation: LOO-mos

  • Wand Movement: A Counter Clockwise Loop

  • Concentration: Low, on the light forming and effects

  • Willpower: Low, on the color of the light, and the spell's aim being successful, whatever it is.

Wand Extinguishing Charm

The Wand Extinguishing Charm was invented by Levina Monkstanley in the 18th Century. It is very important as light cannot be extinguished, without this charm, and it would remain lightened forever!

  • Incantation: Nox

  • Pronunciation: Nokss

  • Wand Movement: A quarter curve towards the right, and an upright C( A flick of wand then a short curve)

  • Concentration: None

  • Willpower: None

Try these Charms in 1... 2... and 3! Great Job!

Closing
